Gypset Magazine forges a bilingual path in music and style

gaby_standing.jpgLast night I attended the Gypset 6 de Mayo concert at the Los Globos Club in the Silverlake District of LA.  It was not only a great concert, but it was the best example yet of the vision that Gypset founders Diana Carolina and Louis Polcano are manifesting - a style and entertainment platform that is both Spanish and English and celebrates the fusion of the two cultures now ongoing in LA and other parts of the world, especially through music. Watch this space for a full article on the Gypset phenomenon, but the concert last night was party built around Grammy winner Gaby Moreno and musicians David Garza and Marisa Ronstadt. Gaby is Guatemalan by birth and many in the audience was there to celebrate their birth country's music and culture and honor one of theirs who had become a music star.  Miss Teen Guatemala was there, people were waving flags, holding up signs, dancing - it was a party imported from Guatemala, mixed with American rock and blues and carried on with lots of laughs and smiles in two languages.  More later on the #GypsetPhenomenon.
