When a fan recommended Juliette Ashby for the show I admit I had to find her music because, although I had heard the name, I wasn't familiar with er sound. It wasn't long before I was very familiar with her sound - she is irresistible. Her voice has a curl in it that I have never hear anywhere else. She moves from childlike mischief to mature (and sometimes explicit) world-weary mature woman. Every song is full of complexity, even when it is just Juliette on her guitar. Ashby wrote her first song when she was 7 years old, in the car while on holiday in Greece. It was a country song called “Place In My Heart”. She met her best friend Amy Winehouse at nursery when they were 4 years old and by the time they were 10 they were writing and performing songs, dances and raps. They recorded 3 self written songs together; “Spindarella”, “Glam Chicks” and “Boys …Who Needs Them”. Juliette now resides in London and continues to record and write music .
Ashby has just returned to London after performing several critically acclaimed showcases at t SXSW, including an exclusive press dinner for Russell Simmons and Steve Rifkind’s new label launch ADD52, plus Perez Hilton’s One Night In Austin show at Austin Music Hall. She has just released her debut album, Bittersweet and it rocks. The first single to be taken from the album is “Over & Over” produced by So So Def’s Mike Kalombo.
She was schedule for 5.9.16 but we have to postpone because of last minute travel plan change and she is on a trian. Juliette will reschedule for later in teh month.
