Militia Vox. From Judas Priestess to solo power. What a talent!

MV_blowing_smoke_300.jpgI am so looking forward to talking with Militia Vox.  I have loved her in Judas Priestess - the whole idea  of an all female cover band for the totally male heavy metal icon was brilliant, and she does it brilliantly.  In fact, everything she does she does brilliantly, especially the new EP Bait, the prelude to this year's release of her upcoming album, Villianess. I have been listening to cuts from the EP this week and they are now on my most-played playlist. The lead off song,  "46&2", just kills.  A blend of mid-east drumming, resonate guitar, clap drumming all rising power with that voice...it just stops you dead in your tracks. There is nothing like it.

Also known as MilitiA., MILITIA VOX is many things, and we will try to talk about most of them as we focus on her current offerings as a solo artist.  But she has also been the lead singer/songwriter of the progressive hard rock band SWEAR ON YOUR LIFE, the leading lady of DEE SNIDER's heavy metal horror orchestra "VAN HELSING'S CURSE" and of course, New Yorkers know her as the  "Rock Goddess" of the Brooklyn based AFROPUNK movement.

She is totally in love with rock'n'roll and brings a power and attitude to it that is so stunning it is almost overpowering at times. And she does it as a one-woman hurricane of talent.  She knows  how to reach out and grab an audience by the throat and lift them up with her as she soars on wings of drums and rifts and strings.  Part of her sheer confidence comes from her stint as  a Host, VJ and music and alternative style expert from FUSE, Much Music USA, MTV2 and VH1 on shows such as- Heavy Metal Makeover, Soundtrack For Your Life, Tastemaker, All Things Rock, iMix and A Night With...  She regularly hosts live events including the first ever HOUSECORE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL in Austin, Texas, NYC's COMICCON and ANIME FESTIVAL, the AFROPUNK FESTIVAL, THE BOX (NYC), HOUSE OF YES (Brooklyn, NY), events with 30-piece ensemble THIS AMBITIOUS ORCHESTRA,  and the legendary NYC party BITCH- A Ladies' Tribute to Metal.  In 2013, MilitiA. staged her first full length one woman shows: "MilitiA.'s Roadhouse Blues" and "MilitiA's Heavy Metal House of Voodoo" in NYC and LA- two  cabaret-style concerts that blend "The Divine Miss M" with Metallica's "S&M."

This  is going to be fun!
