The years ago upright bass player Eric Holden and Guitarist/pianist Randy Wooten formed an LA-based band, C Cheap Lullaby Records in the not-yet priced out of the market for artists Venice beach. But after signing Gus Black, Joan As Policewoman, and The Bellrays, the Bloody Lovelies went on hold and everyone worked on other projects. It was not hard to predict tht this would happen as Holden was doing side gigs with Shkira, Josh Groban and the BoDeans and was also producing a gypsy band, The Bastards of Belleville. Meanwhile, Wooten stated to work with Mark Plati (David Bowie, The Cure), and Shawn Pelton (P!nk, Lyle Lovett), and toured Japan, playing punk versions of Sinatra songs.
But all that experience came together in Willdean when they got back together and added Dan Barrett’ raspy blues voice as the lead vocal. The result is a band that can be dreamy, happy, bluesy, folksy and is always fun.
